The Program

The Gnomery Your memorable adventure begins in a cozy room referred to as "the Gnomery", where stories, songs, and little gnome facts are shared by Mr. Rich, commonly referred to as "the Gnomeman." Here environmental awareness begins with the introduction to Pennsylvania flora, the habitats and habits of local prey and predators, and an emphasis on the importance of wilderness to human interaction and survival.

Enthusiastically displayed with specimens and knowledge, and warmed by a creative sense of humor and twinkling gnome-love, Mr. Rich's deep love for, and dedication to the forest and its creatures is contagious.

The Trail The walk through the woods along the mulched trail features hands-on experiences, decision-making opportunities, interactive questioning, storytelling, and games both with and without use of a parachute. Time at the playground, a favorite for many, includes materials for building gnome habitats, stacking rocks, or building Cairns. A monkey bridge and giant's balance beam nestles within the special rocks and trees that the Gnomemans will love to tell all about.

Nearby lies the "Labyrinth of Gratitude", a mazed walkway for considering, and appreciating what the earth and its inhabitants give to each of us, and what we might give in return. Following an enjoyable time at the playground, the group is led down into the "Valley of the Shadows of Litter" to learn about the effect of litter and garbage on the world, and what each of us can do about it. The Gnomery

Finally, back up into the light and beauty of the trail, the hike continues out of the valley, walking by the beautiful "Gnome Gniagra", and back to the benches. Here one can consider suggestions of the talking rocks, which include, "Joy", "Wonder", "Imagination", and "Create". Then, most importantly, each person can think about the ways in which they may carry the wonderful experience of their day at Gnome Countryside back into the larger world. The tour lasts approximately 3 hours.
